On your skin,
Scars are who we are
The depth with which we choose to recognize them
Shifts and moves with time.
Our scars are many things
Hurt, despair, loss, physical injuries.
The skin heals
But the memories, pain and rejection live on.
The highs and lows
Sleep then insomnia
Making tidy excuses
Loss of self –control
The realization that I am Me – strong and bold
Time to stop telling the story
No more hiding away, licking my wounds
Letting go of the self-doubt
It’s doom and gloom.
Feeling that I’m not enough
Scars that He or She inflicted upon me and mine
The wounds are a reminder not to go there
But are they that bad?
Scars are part of our journey
Touch and feel them
Love and learn from your scars
Be thankful for the blessings offered
Scars are embedded in your soul
As you move through the years
Scars always carry a story that must be told
Speak, act and make a difference in this world
Knowing that everyone you meet has a story and a scar
Love one another.
We are who we are
All beings seeking love and connection
