One year ago today I was walking from Los Arcos to Lorongo. A 28 km walk - that day. This was my fourth day on El Camino - a 800 km walking pilgramage that people have trod for thousands of years to purge something, heal something in themselves. This is no tourist holiday Friends! If you decide to walk this many kilometres you are doing it for a reason. Everyone I met, some amazing characters, had their own deeply personal reasons for walking. Something happens on that journey - you meet people and walk with them. Some for a long time, some for only a few hours, but there is no time for small talk. You get right to it. Get the gift from them and give them one - hopefully! I met so many amazing people as a I walked, all moved as I was by this profound journey. This walk does not allow you to hide from any pain you might be carrying locked down deep. The landscape and the loving locals who feed and house the pilgrims on the journey do not allow you to escape from what you are there to learn. For me it was this simple. Get up, walk, be brave. Put your brave heart out there, one foot in front of the other - and that's enough. On one 36 degree day when my feet were raw and scorching I found this quote crayoned on a wall "May the torch of your soul light the flame in others until the end of our infinite days and know that our paths will cross exactly when they need to, not a mile to early or a second too late" El Camino is a physical way to experience deep bravery of the heart - in connections in your life with others and the times when you have to walk on your own. Camino taught me to see how we find the power within to keep going when life is tough. No matter how ripped and blistered your feet and the heat and the ache in your heart as you work out and ease the pain you have worked so hard to tuck away, you don't have a choice but to just stop and appreciate the beauty around you. Camino also taught me about life. I managed to take 5 weeks out of my business to realise what I have and what I am so grateful for. My business had taken so much from me and taking time out to connect deep within, gave me passion in my blood again. Passion to help others feel beautiful. I thank my amazing an inspiring team at Verona Hair for making me feel that I could go and all would still be covered, they had my back while I was going through my journey and that means a lot! If you get the chance to do this walk - do it. I will never forget El Camino. Keezia Check out Verona salon at www.veronahair.com.au
